After red flag screening it applies the elbow extension test of Appelboam and Docherty after trauma, the elbow flexion test combined with ulnar nerve compression as described by Novak, the moving valgus stress test with its 70 to 120 degree pain arc for the medial collateral ligament, the Phalen test held for 60 seconds for carpal tunnel syndrome, anatomical snuffbox tenderness for scaphoid injury, and the ulnar fovea sign for ulnar-sided wrist pain.
