Prone Knee Bend (Face-Down Control)

Prone knee bend is useful when hip motion pulls the pelvis or lumbar spine into unwanted movement, which is common in mechanical back pain and in people with stiff anterior thighs or hip flexors.

The drill trains the body to separate hip motion from spinal motion, so the back stays quieter when the leg moves.

Prone Knee Bend (Face-Down Control)

What this involves

  • Letting the knee move without paying for it with the low back
  • Catching two separate faults: the back arching, and the pelvis twisting
  • Lie face down, legs straight, head comfortable. A thin pillow under the belly is fine

How much

Use a gentle knee-bend pattern while the pelvis stays quiet.

Safety note

A strong pull at the front of the thigh is normal. Pain in the back is not: reduce how far you bend
